Brač — the day trip we actually take

My favourite full-day escape from Trogir: Brač combines a proper little sea crossing, the panorama from Vidova Gora — at 778 m the highest point of any Adriatic island — and an afternoon in the water near Bol.

An honest word: Zlatni Rat is genuinely worth seeing, and the shingle spit really does change shape with the wind — but up close it's smaller and busier than the drone shots suggest. Seen from the summit first, it makes sense. Drive on to the ferry early, take the mountain before the beach, and it's a wonderful day.

The easiest big nature day from Trogir: boardwalks through cascading turquoise pools, the broad sweep of Skradinski buk, and a boat ride up the green river if you come in via Skradin. Go early — by midday in summer the main loop is shoulder-to-shoulder.

Blue Lagoon

Half day · small boat from Trogir harbour · ideal for an easy swim day

The simplest boat day there is: a short hop out to the shallows between Drvenik and Krknjaši, an anchor drop, and a couple of hours of the clearest swimming and snorkelling around. No logistics, no early alarm — just bring swimwear and go.

Practical

How to plan a day trip from Trogir

Car or boat? Krka, Split and Brač work best with a car; Hvar, the Blue Cave and the Blue Lagoon are boat days. A hire car from Split Airport is easy to collect on arrival.
Start early in July and August. The parks, the ferries and the beaches all reward the first hours of the day — and the heat punishes the late ones.
Check ferry timetables for island trips. For Brač, glance at the day's Jadrolinija timetable before you set off, and arrive early if you're taking the car across.
Book popular boat trips a few days ahead in peak season — the Blue Cave and Blue Lagoon departures do sell out.
Pack simply: water, sun protection, swimwear, and some cash alongside the card — smaller kiosks and park cafés don't always take plastic.
