1 · The market

Trogir Market: Fresh Produce and Local Flavour

Trogir's open-air market sits just over the bridge on the mainland side, along the canal by Kardinala Alojzija Stepinca — a couple of minutes' walk from the old town's north gate. It's the nicest place to pick up fruit, vegetables and a few local products, and it's at its best first thing in the morning.

In summer, go early: the produce is freshest, the stalls are fully set up, and it's cooler and quieter before the day heats up. Depending on the season you'll find things like seasonal fruit and vegetables, olive oil, figs, honey and cheese. It's ideal for fresh ingredients rather than a full weekly shop — for that, you'll want one of the larger supermarkets.

2 · Supermarkets

Supermarkets in Trogir, Seget and Čiovo

For a proper shop — enough for a few days, or for the whole stay — the larger supermarkets are on the mainland, a short drive from the old town. Here are the ones we'd point apartment guests to, grouped by where you're staying.

On opening hours: these can change by season, and on Sundays and public holidays. We've deliberately left them off here — check Google Maps before you go, where the current hours and any temporary closures are always up to date.

3 · Bakeries

Bakeries: Easy Breakfast and Beach Snacks

A bakery is often the easiest holiday breakfast plan — especially before a beach day or an early boat trip. You'll find fresh bread, pastries, burek, sandwiches and pizza slices, and it's all quick and cheap.

There are bakeries around the old town and on the mainland, plus in-store bakery counters at the bigger supermarkets. Grab a few things on the way to the water and you're set for the morning.

4 · For a beach day

Beach-Day Shopping List

Everything you'll usually want for a day by the water — most of it from one supermarket stop on the way:

  • Water — more than you think you'll need
  • Fruit
  • Sandwiches or bakery snacks
  • Sun cream
  • Beach shoes — handy on the rockier beaches
  • Wet wipes
  • A small rubbish bag to carry things back out
  • Cash and card for ice cream, cafés or parking
5 · Dinner in

Easy Apartment Dinner or Barbecue Shopping

You don't need much for a good, simple dinner in the apartment. A basic list that covers most evenings:

  • Bread
  • Tomatoes and salad
  • Local cheese
  • Meat or fresh fish
  • Drinks
  • Olive oil
  • A bag of ice cubes
  • Charcoal — only if your place has a grill
  • Napkins and a few simple bits

Keep it simple — good bread, ripe tomatoes, a bit of local cheese and something off the grill goes a long way here.

Good to know

Sundays and summer hours

  • Opening hours vary with the season.
  • Sundays and public holidays can mean shorter hours or closures.
  • Some tourist-facing shops stay open later in summer.
  • Always check the current hours in Google Maps before you set off.
